Cold Storage Group, a Design Build Contractor in Modesto California has awarded the design of Central Refrigeration System with R-507 to National Engineers. This is a system with nominal cost of $3.5MM with the following scope of work. This is a Food Production Facility for Hello Fresh that will be read for production in early 2017.

DESRIPTION OF SCOPE OF WORK:
This design is for a mechanical recompression refrigeration system with refrigerant R-507 as the medium for a Central Refrigeration system. This refrigeration will be installed in an existing building located at 60 Lister Avenue, Newark New Jersey 07105. The refrigeration system is designed with two level suction temperatures with Medium Suction Temperature of +24 °F and a nominal capacity of 510 T.R. for the spaces above 32°F and Low Suction Temperature of -12°F and a nominal capacity of 210 T.R. for 0°F spaces. The Mechanical Refrigeration Machinery Room is designed with (3) racks that is manufactured by Zero Zone with (2) racks dedicated to Medium Temperature Suction and (1) rack for Low Temperature Suction. To enhance the system energy efficiency, we have utilized evaporative condensers with 95°F condensing at 78°F wet bulb and sub-cooling economizer for both suction temperatures to provide sub-cooled liquid refrigerant of 75°F for Medium Suction Temperature 40°F for Low Suction Temperature. The flash vapor from sub-coolers is piped to economizer port of the compressors with 40°F (52 T.R.) sub-cooler to economizer of the low temperature compressors and 75°F (34 T.R. per rack) to medium temperature compressors. Each Medium Temperature rack is installed with (4) reciprocating compressors of which (3) compressors is equipped with two 28.1% unloaders and the trim compressor is installed with two 15.7% unloaders.







 
Similarly, the Low Temperature Rack is installed with (6) reciprocating compressors of which (5) compressors is equipped with two 18% unloaders and the trim compressor is installed with two 10.1% unloaders.








 

The evaporators are of direct expansion charge to minimize the refrigerant change and each evaporator is installed with an Electric Expansion Valve (EEV) for optimum space and suction temperature control and lower energy usage. Each Zero Zone rack is provided with a Microprocessor for the control of the entire refrigeration equipment, space control, and Energy Management System.
